Dear Mr Simpson,

In the Richard Littlejohn article on recycling today, Tuesday 9th November, he wrongly claimed that ‘WRAP published an absurd glossy magazine depicting its senior officials as comic book superheroes’.

Had WRAP had anything to do with such a publication, I agree it would have been a serious misuse of public money. I can confirm that WRAP did not fund or publish that magazine, which incidentally, I understand dates back several years.

Mr Littlejohn is also wrong to claim that we tell local government how to conduct waste collection. WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) is a not-for-profit-company. WRAP operates as a delivery body on resource efficiency for UK Governments. As such WRAP does not set any legislation or rules governing waste collection.
