Jonathan Lea appointed new WRAP Chief Finance Officer

25 March 2010

Jonathan has extensive international commercial sector experience as finance director, including three years as Group Finance Director of thread manufacturer Coats plc.  Most recently he was Chief Financial Officer of a Netherlands-based private engineering group specialising in capital equipment for the food industry.

He will take over from Hugh Etheridge who is retiring as WRAP’s CFO after six years in the post.

Jonathan will be an Executive Member of WRAP’s Board and Company Secretary.  He will also be responsible for WRAP’s Evaluation Team which monitors the effectiveness of WRAP’s programmes and value for money.

Welcoming Jonathan, WRAP’s Chief Executive Liz Goodwin said:

“Jonathan brings a wealth of senior international commercial experience to this critical role.  There is, quite rightly, close scrutiny of WRAP’s performance and the value we deliver for the taxpayers funds entrusted to us.  Jonathan has the skills and passion for our agenda to ensure WRAP continues to demonstrate that we deliver great value.”

She paid tribute to Hugh Etheridge, who retires as CFO at the end of June.

She said: “Hugh Etheridge has made an outstanding contribution to WRAP both as CFO and as a Member of the WRAP Board.  He has been a passionate advocate for the work we do and has ensured we achieve the best value for money that we can.  Hugh and Jonathan will be working closely to ensure a smooth handover.”

Welcoming his appointment, Jonathan Lea said:

“WRAP has a hard-won reputation for the quality of its work and the way it has helped change the way we think about waste, recycling and resource efficiency and I am delighted to be joining the team.  It is critical that WRAP is able to demonstrate the added value it brings and I am looking forward to contributing to that work.”

Jonathan Lea will start at WRAP on 1 July 2010.
