Welcome to the... / News / Green Diggers e...
The enthusiastic presentation of mini beast slides began an interesting two hour session followed by actually hunting for the beasts in a box of compost fresh from the compost bins. Even though the small creatures were camouflaged and quick, the eager youngsters managed to track down beetle larvae, woodlice and worms. In containers with magnifying plastic lids the creatures certainly looked like beasts!
The last part of the event involved not-so-mini beasts from Africa. The Centre staff brought African Land snails, giant millipedes and even cockroaches to each table of Green Diggers who were able to touch and see them up close. The zebra tarantula stayed safe in a plastic box though, to protect it – and us!
