Christmas Diggers Event - Fantastic Insects!

Eco-conscious Green Diggers, the young members of the West Sussex Green Club met up on 22nd December for a Christmas get together at the Tilgate Nature Centre in Crawley. Amongst the activitites the children enjoyed exploring compost and the minibeasts that work hard and feast on making kitchen and garden waste into a resource! Diggers were then told how this can be used in the garden – as a nutritious compost for their gardens eco-system.

Next diggers were surprised to come face to face with some special larger insects that are looked after by the team at the nature centre. Microscopes were not required for these – Diggers were lucky to get up close with a Giant Land Snail, Cockroaches & South American Millipeads! All were thrilled.
