If you have not already considered it – maybe you would like the idea of growing your own vegetables, but do not have the space or garden to do so. Or you may have lots of space but no spare time to maintain it. Not all of us have access to space for growing. Yet there is a lot of land in the UK that’s under-used or forgotten. Some of this land is within our own County of West Sussex. Some of this land could be cultivated for vegetables and fruit. This is where “Landshare” comes in. Landshare connects growers with people who have space to share. If you’re toying with the idea, take a look at the Landshare case studies to see how others have done it. More and more people across the country are sharing land, finding land to grow on, and generally helping each other to create community gardens. As well as producing your own fresh produce, it will bring people together to work on something which teaches useful skills, keeps people fit and healthy, and puts them back in touch with natural cycles and seasons.
Any Green Club Member who is interested in the Landshare concept may wish to initially post a message on the Green Club Members Forum to generate group interest. There is a potential to organise a community Landshare garden with like-minded Green Club members within your respective areas.
Do take a look at the website, it may just be what you are looking for, possibly leading to the setting up of or helping in a small community garden in your area.
Why not share/exchange your ideas on the Members Forum possibly get in touch with like minded members in your area.
