If your deckchair reflections in the garden have led you to realise there is a lot to do, then how about inviting friends and neighbours in for a garden party with a twist. This garden party will give guests the chance to get up-close and personal with all things green in your plot.

You draw up the ‘to do’ list and provide flowers, plants and gardening tools. Guests with little gardening experience will need guidance but will learn a lot. More experienced gardeners will share knowledge, ideas and tips.

Stage competitions for the quickest planters, the most weeds removed or the first person to spot a slow worm in your compost heap. After the hard work serve refreshments embellished with your own herbs and/or made from your own crops.

Your guests will agree that gardening is good for you and you will have created your own gardening community. Why not repeat the ‘party’ in each other’s gardens or allotments.
