Garden Music

Have you ever thought about all the sounds you can hear outside in the garden or park?  Diggy likes to listen to the bees buzzing, the wind rustling the leaves on trees and frogs plopping in the pond.

This is nature making its own music but you can add to the natural sounds outside.  Why not hang wind chimes, windmills, wind spirals and wind spinners.  You could have a go at making your own wind chimes with shells or with old CDs instead of throwing them away.  On a very windy day you could test the direction and see how strong the wind is by fixing a light bag onto a stick to make a wind sock (Diggy says take care with the stick and don’t hurt anyone.)

Try making a colourful curtain of any material that will move - old tinsel, strips of bright fabric, silver foil and anything else that might be thrown away.  Tie the things to trees and washing lines (be sure to get permission first) and listen to the sound they make.  They will also look very sparkly in the summer sun.

You will have the beginnings of your very own outside band!
