The Biggest Tree in Great Britain

A couple of newsletters back, we discovered the biggest tree in the world – the giant Redwood in America. Here in Great Britain, we also have some big trees – although not quite as big as the ones in America.

The largest tree in Great Britain is a Sweet Chestnut tree in a wood near Tunbridge Wells in Kent. It’s believed to be over 1,000 years old and stands a whopping 104 feet high! Its circumference is nearly 52 feet!

It has the nickname “The Seven Sisters” because seven stems grow from the huge trunk.

Imagine the size of tree house you could build in that!!
